We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelite action players who want to build a spaceship across repeated expeditions
- Space-combat fans interested in shooting components off enemy ships
- Players who enjoy planning some equipment choices before a run and making others during it
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for very short sessions may find the roughly one-hour expedition format too long.
- Players who prefer fixed stages may not enjoy procedurally generated galaxies and changing stage conditions.
- Players seeking a brief campaign may find 18 galaxies and six difficulty settings per galaxy broader than they want.
Our take on Cosmo Riders
Enemy ships have destructible nodes: weapons and modules can be shot off during combat. That component-level damage is the defining combat detail, alongside the expedition loop of moving through galaxies and upgrading the player's ship.
What is Cosmo Riders?
Cosmo Riders is a physics-based roguelite action game built around spaceship combat against enemy waves.
Each expedition moves through procedurally generated galaxies and solar systems, with stages that can include conditions and events such as destructible asteroids and comets. Players can change galaxy conditions and effects, then defeat enemies, collect cargo and components, and use a warp portal to reach the next stage. Between expeditions, research weapons, modules and modifications; during a run, install researched items and adjust ship attributes. Contracts unlock research tiers, and completing a galaxy grants a permanent attribute point.
Enemy equipment can be shot off during fights through node-based destruction. An expedition takes about one hour, with progress saved every one to three minutes. The game includes 18 galaxies and six difficulty settings per galaxy.
