Our take on Coffee Crawl
The permanent-death structure gives resource decisions and exploration lasting consequences, but it also removes safety between runs. Much of the game’s interaction logic must be learned through experimentation, so the trade-off is discovery at the expense of immediate clarity.
What is Coffee Crawl?
Coffee Crawl combines action RPG combat, survival systems, and roguelike structure in a world where nearly everyone has fallen asleep.
Players choose a class, explore procedurally generated areas, gather loot, manage scarce money, mine materials, craft equipment, trade, and interact with survivors. Combat is fast and focuses on deciding when to fight or retreat rather than aiming. Character development draws from more than 120 abilities, while encounters include over 100 enemy types. NPC interactions include employment, negotiation, and violence, supported by a diplomacy system for forming friendships or rivalries. Each run can end permanently, and some mechanics are discovered through repeated play and death.

Coffee Crawl compared to similar games
Mr. Prepper focuses on building an underground shelter and preparing for a nuclear-war threat, while Coffee Crawl combines randomized exploration, action combat, permanent death, diplomacy, and character abilities. Vagante is also an adventure roguelike with monsters and treasure, but Coffee Crawl adds survival resource management, crafting, trading, and interactions with survivor NPCs.
