Is Cloudheim worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action RPG players who want physics-based combat and destructible environments
- Co-op groups of up to 4 players who want shared progression
- Exploration-focused players who enjoy crafting, changing dungeons, and side activities
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted, linear dungeon experience may find the rearranging areas and broad activity mix less focused.
- Players wanting purely combat-centered sessions may find the shop, crafting, workshop, fishing, and home-building activities distracting.
- Solo players who want a multiplayer-only experience are not the target audience.
Our take on Cloudheim
The defining detail is its physics-based combat in a breakable world, where environmental objects can become weapons and attacks can be chained into team combinations.
What is Cloudheim?
Cloudheim is an action RPG set after Ragnarok has broken the world.
Players take the role of a Runari, explore islands and dungeons, fight monsters in destructible environments, collect loot, and craft weapons, gear, and abilities. Combat combines physical interactions with chained abilities, including knocking enemies into hazards and using environmental objects. The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to 4 players, with shared unlocks and an optional setting that lets teammates affect one another in combat. Players can connect Bifrost gates to reach new areas, solve puzzles, and visit dungeons that rearrange between visits. Other activities include developing a workshop on Odin Shell, running a shop, fishing, and raising a home in the sky.
How Cloudheim plays
- 01Physics-driven combat
- Environmental objects and chained abilities can send enemies into hazards, tornadoes, cannons, and other attacks.
- 02Four-player co-op
- Online groups can include the player and up to three friends, with shared weapon and ability unlocks.
- 03Rearranging dungeons
- Handcrafted dungeons change their layouts between visits as players travel through linked islands.
- 04Sky workshop
- A workshop on the ancient turtle Odin Shell produces weapons, gear, and abilities for use or sale.
- 05Fantasy shop
- A stall can be stocked, used to fill customer orders, and expanded through its reputation.
Cloudheim compared to similar games
Cloudheim combines action-RPG combat, online co-op for up to 4 players, crafting, shop management, and destructible environments. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened also combines cooperative action RPG play with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization, but adds tower defense as a central structure. Ghost of a Tale focuses on a mouse protagonist, immersion, exploration, stealth, disguises, and conversations rather than Cloudheim's physics-driven group combat.
