Our take on City of Fools
Its open-ended investigation trades tightly paced progression for a large amount of exploration, resident errands, and information management. The comic tone and many locations support variety, but the structure may feel diffuse for players who prefer a direct route through a mystery.
What is City of Fools?
Take the role of a magazine reporter dispatched to Tundel after its mayor secretly hides a UFO.
Reaching City Hall involves finding a concealed pass, speaking with the town’s residents, and carrying out their strange errands. The investigation covers roughly 500 places, many hidden-object challenges, and 10 mini-games. Its branching structure lets the journalist choose different ways forward. Notes about roads, addresses, and other clues need to be sorted throughout the case. Completing residents’ requests provides rewards, while the story uses a comic tone. Expert mode contains a playtime exceeding 100 hours, giving the investigation a long progression alongside its open-ended route choices.
