Our take on Slum Guide
Players may bounce at the highlighted-phrase dialogue system, where recruitment attempts depend on choosing among gathered information and procured tools. Those seeking immediate combat may also hit a wall during the conversation and information-gathering sections.
What is Slum Guide?
Slum Guide is a narrative-driven RPG set in a secretive slum town.
Aid gathers information from residents and obtains tools from places including the local shops, inn, church, and tool shop. During conversations, highlighted phrases reveal vulnerabilities and desires. Dialogue options let Aid use gathered information and procured tools when attempting recruitment. Recruited women can fight enemies and arena opponents, work at the local inn, or contribute to community activities. Battles use recruits’ skills and abilities, while weapons can be upgraded at the weapons shop. The game also includes individual character scenes and a recollection mode for viewing unlocked scenes.
How Slum Guide plays
- 01Information-Based Dialogue
- Conversation choices use phrases revealed by visitors together with information and tools collected around town.
- 02Multiple Recruit Roles
- Recruited characters can serve as fighters, inn workers, or participants in other community activities.
- 03Arena And Battles
- Recruits face enemies and coliseum opponents while developing abilities and using weapons improved at a shop.
- 04Scene Recollection
- Unlocked character scenes remain available for later viewing in a dedicated recollection mode.
