Our take on Chico and the Magic Orchards DX
The defining mechanic is the walnut's dual role: Chico navigates obstacles alone, but must also transport the object through each level while using its rolling, bouncing, and elemental properties.
What is Chico and the Magic Orchards DX?
Guide Chico, a chipmunk transported through a forest portal, across a magical world filled with giant walnuts.
Each level presents puzzles and hazards built around two play states: Chico can jump and activate switches alone, while a walnut lets him roll across spikes, rebound from walls, and interact with bumpers. The goal is to bring the walnut to the level's endpoint. The game uses an 8-bit handheld-inspired presentation with simple controls, chiptune music, pixel-grid filters, and fixed four-color, area-based palette, or full-color display options. After the main ending, the DX edition adds A Hive Divided, a post-game campaign with two large levels, trapped bees to rescue, the Queen Bee, and walnut powers based on fire, water, and honey.
