Our take on Chaos Entropy
The game trades multiplayer interaction for a solo version of MMORPG-style progression, putting party composition, pause-based commands, and layered character development under one player’s control.
What is Chaos Entropy?
Chaos Entropy is a single-player RPG that simulates an MMORPG.
Exploration across the Yusufyad continent leads through dungeons, event cards, traps, battles, rewards, puzzles, and resource gathering. Combat uses tank, healer, and damage-dealer roles, with pause-based strategy mode for editing each character’s next action. Players can assemble teams from awakened hero spirits or enter battle with one character, then develop them through equipment refining, enchantment, skill upgrades, potion making, forging, and goddess talents. Bosses can drop runes with hidden effects, while divine artifacts provide team buffs and enemy debuffs. Optional activities include card games, fishing, cooking, and mining.
How Chaos Entropy plays
- 01Pause-based tactics
- Combat can be paused to set movement, recovery, or skill actions for individual characters.
- 02Hero spirit teams
- Awakenable heroes have distinct attributes and abilities, and one random hero appears per dungeon location in each playthrough.
- 03Dungeon event cards
- Entering a map presents events that can include fights, traps, or beneficial rewards.
- 04Layered character development
- Progression includes refining equipment, enchanting, improving skills, making potions, forging weapons, and upgrading goddess talents.
- 05Rune combinations
- Boss-dropped runes can be combined to create concealed attributes.
- 06Optional city activities
- Non-combat activities include card games with non-player characters, fishing, and cooking.
Chaos Entropy compared to similar games
Force of Nature also combines action, adventure, RPG, strategy, and management, but its description centers on exploring zones, gathering resources, and creating weapons. Inkbound uses turn-based combat, classes, and roguelike challenges, while Chaos Entropy adds role-based parties, pause-based action planning, dungeon events, and extensive crafting systems. Quasimorph focuses on high-stakes roguelike corporate contracts and extracting resources to strengthen a PMC, rather than hero-spirit teams and a goddess-pursuit storyline.
