Our take on CAT & MOUSE
Rather than giving every player the same toolkit, the game splits the match into fast, maneuverable Cats and smaller, slower Mice. Its structure replaces symmetrical combat with hiding, pursuit, warnings, ambushes, and shifting perceptions of which side has the advantage.
What is CAT & MOUSE?
CAT & MOUSE is an asymmetrical multiplayer game in which Cats hunt Mice across levels.
Mice search for food while avoiding capture, using hiding spots, wall climbing, cracks, gaps, and a Dash ability when cornered. Cats are faster and more maneuverable, can detect moving Mice through walls, and use a visible light cone and warning sound to signal where they are looking. Sneaking turns off the light but leaves a Cat mostly stationary. Cats are usually outnumbered, while Mice move at about half their speed. The game uses peer-to-peer multiplayer and has no public dedicated servers. Single-player content is limited to a tutorial and level exploration mode, with bots and further single-player gameplay described as work in progress.
