We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy short retro puzzle-platformers with collectible-focused levels
- Fans of Game Boy Color-style presentation who want a modern Steam release
- Challenge seekers who want a 10-level bonus area with a 20-life limit
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a long-form adventure rather than a short, fixed set of 50 main levels
- Players who prefer open-ended exploration or combat-heavy progression over bouncing through obstacle courses
- Players seeking a realistic or serious visual style instead of colorful retro presentation
Our take on Bubble Frog DX
The focused level structure keeps the game centered on short puzzle-platforming challenges, but leaves less room for broad exploration or a large progression system. The bonus area adds difficulty through severe life limits rather than a separate gameplay framework.
What is Bubble Frog DX?
Guide Bubble Frog through a 2D puzzle-platforming adventure spread across 50 levels and four zones: Pink, Blue, Yellow, and Green.
Bouncing through hazard-filled stages, the frog collects 160 scattered Onigiri while navigating obstacles such as spikes. Normal Mode provides unlimited lives, while Hard Mode limits the game to 20 lives. The Ink Zone adds 10 highly difficult levels and a final 161st Onigiri, also using a 20-life limit. The game includes a retro Game Boy Color version, a cast of unusual characters, and a 3D main-menu gallery containing fan art, official artwork, and Kickstarter backer acknowledgments. Bubble Frog DX is available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and SteamOS.
