Our take on Brain Marmelade
Rather than treating combat as a separate attack button, the game turns each encounter into a visual sequence challenge. Its platforming structure is paired with cursor placement and enemy-specific combo following, while the hand-drawn creepy style departs from brighter platform-adventure presentation.
What is Brain Marmelade?
Brain Marmelade is a 2D platform adventure centered on the “Dumped One,” who searches for the GLORIOUS Brain Marmelade.
Levels require movement, jumping, repeated jumps, rolling, and dodging to get past traps and enemy attacks. Combat uses a cursor-based sequence: the player positions near an enemy, focuses on that foe, observes the combo shown above its head, and follows it to chain attacks. The game uses hand-drawn creepy artwork. It was created and completed by one person, with additional contributions to the interface, save system, gameplay advice, playtesting, and music credits.
How Brain Marmelade plays

- 03Creepy Hand-Drawn Art
