Our take on Bottle
The emphasis is on atmosphere and a slow walk, not a developed action or interaction loop. Its 15-minute runtime and lack of a save system make the experience unusually brief, so the mood carries most of the game.
What is Bottle?
Bottle is a brief atmospheric game about a solitary man who is an alcoholic.
The player walks through winter scenery, encountering visions of a woman and hearing poems she leaves behind. The experience focuses on melancholy, warm piano music, emotional voice acting, and a slow sense of place rather than action or interaction. Flame-like temporary speed increases appear along the path. The game takes 15 minutes to finish and has no save system. It recreates a 2016 game with content made from scratch, while retaining the earlier release’s music.
How Bottle plays
- 01Temporary speed increases
- Flame-like items placed throughout the world briefly alter movement speed.
- 02Poems and visions
- A woman appears in visions, while her poems accompany the walk.
- 03Recreated content
- The game remakes the 2016 release with newly produced content and the same music.
