ActionIs Boreal Blade worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- PvP players who want melee matches with friends or clanmates rather than solo-only play
- Combat-game players who want to vary attacks and choose among weapon styles rather than use a fixed moveset
- Players seeking both team objectives and an individual kill-based mode rather than one match format
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a story-led campaign may find the focus on repeated player-versus-player matches limiting
- Players who prefer simple, fixed combat may hit a wall when attacks and blocks can be directed freely and weapons can be moved independently
- Players looking for ranged-gun combat rather than melee fighting
Our take on Boreal Blade
Players may bounce off at the combat system if directional attacks, blocks, free weapon movement, and tactical manoeuvres feel too demanding. The same friction can arise when choosing among four fighting styles, three armour classes, and varied equipment.
What is Boreal Blade?
Boreal Blade is a player-versus-player melee game built around team combat, directional attacks, blocks, movement, and tactical manoeuvres.
It offers four fighting styles: one- or two-handed weapons, shield combinations, long pole weapons, and unarmed combat. Players can also throw items during battles. Three armour classes have different strengths and weaknesses, while weapons, shields, armour, accessories, and dyes support character customization. Multiplayer includes Team Deathmatch, Boreal Battle, Boreal Claim, and Deathmatch. The first two use opposing teams, Boreal Claim alternates attacking and defending a banner, and Deathmatch is an individual mode won by the first warrior to reach 20 kills. Matches take place in arenas inspired by Nordic mythology.
