Our take on Bonds of the Skies
The story framing suggests a broad conflict involving demons, gods, and changing traditions, but the listed systems are comparatively focused: turn-based battles, Grimoa synchronization, quests, and item collection. The store copy gives little sense of how large or varied the adventure is beyond those activities.
What is Bonds of the Skies?
Eil’s coming-of-age ceremony is interrupted when a demon attacks his town and sets it ablaze.
After forming a pact with Nogard, the Air Grimoa, Eil travels to find the demon and other Grimoas. The game uses turn-based combat and a Synchro Gauge that enables special skills when Eil synchronizes with a Grimoa. Progress also includes quests to complete and items to collect, with achievements tied to these activities. Its story focuses on the relationship between humans and gods as Grimoas become less present in everyday life. On Windows, the game offers partial support for the Xbox 360 Controller.

Bonds of the Skies compared to similar games
Bonds of the Skies centers on a fantasy journey involving Grimoas, pact-making, turn-based battles, and synchronization skills. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition emphasizes exploring a strange city and an unconventional story, while Back to the Dawn focuses on prison escape, crime, investigation, and survival. Tales of Symphonia presents a chosen-one narrative involving two interlocked worlds rather than the Grimoa-focused premise described here.
