Our take on Bernie’s Nightmare
The defining structure is an escape through a locked house while a monster version of Bernie’s mother hunts the player, with difficulty changing the available lighting and enemy awareness.
What is Bernie’s Nightmare?
Play as Bernie inside a nightmare created by the Nightmare Machine.
He wakes in an unfamiliar house and must find a way out while avoiding a monstrous version of his mother. Progress involves searching for objects and notes, solving puzzles, using hiding places, and locating the key to the locked main door. The house includes doors, lamps, light switches, and a flashlight. Three difficulty settings alter visibility and enemy behavior: the first allows the house lights to be used, the second leaves only the flashlight, and the third makes the enemy continually aware of Bernie’s location. The game also includes a large map, hold-and-drop object interaction, and enemy patrols that vary during play.
