Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a brief, combat-only experience may bounce off the extended visual-novel storytelling and mystery-focused plot.
- Players who want a fixed difficulty curve may hit a wall with the layered AI, damage, weapon, and interface customization systems.
- Players looking for a medieval, animal-focused adventure will not find that setting here.
- Players seeking survival crafting or tower-defense gameplay will find a different structure.
Our take on Baldr Sky
The likely bounce point is the transition between visual-novel exposition and mech combat. Players who want uninterrupted action may lose momentum during the story sections, while those who prefer a fixed progression may find the weapon tree, adjustable difficulty, and unlockable combat modifiers demanding.
What is Baldr Sky?
Baldr Sky combines visual-novel scenes with 3D mech battles in a cyberpunk setting.
Kou Kadokura, a mercenary and simulacrum pilot, investigates the Gray Christmas tragedy while trying to recover missing memories amid an approaching war. Combat supports more than 100 weapons, with loadouts that can favor close-range or ranged attacks. Weapons develop through a branching technology system as they are used. The interface can be adjusted with plug-ins to control which battle information appears. Five difficulty levels can be changed during play, while unlockable options alter enemy and ally behavior and damage values. Multiple playthroughs carry progress forward, opening additional story branches. Survival mode, a database, and a scenario chart track characters, factions, relationships, mechs, and discovered content.
