Our take on Au-Delà
Rather than using a conventional 3D horror format, the game places its dark atmosphere in a 2D side view. It also replaces a straightforward escape structure with repeated room routines, limited carrying capacity, a sunrise deadline, and endings shaped by player actions.
What is Au-Delà?
Au-Delà is a 2D side-view horror adventure about a child left alone at home while the parents are away.
The child explores the family house, gathers information and items, solves puzzles, and avoids or escapes monsters while searching for the parents. Limited carrying capacity requires choosing which items to keep. Each room includes repeated actions connected to OCD, and missing one can put the character in danger. Time advances during the search, with the objective of finding the parents before sunrise. Monster encounters include chases and dialogue. Player actions affect the ending, while hidden drawings can reveal a secret ending. The game also uses creaky humor in its narrative.
