Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking forgiving runs may find that death resets all progress and burning can destroy equipment.
- Those wanting predictable layouts may not enjoy fortresses and skill trees that change between runs.
- Players looking for a story-focused adventure may find the described structure centers on combat and repeated fortress invasions.
Our take on Asura: Vengeance Edition
Rather than keeping character development fixed between runs, Asura reshuffles its skill tree after each death and resets progress when the character dies. Its added endless mode also shifts the structure toward surviving successive enemy waves and comparing scores.
What is Asura: Vengeance Edition?
Asura is a top-down hack-and-slash roguelike set in a fantasy world inspired by Indian mythology.
Players invade five procedurally generated fortresses, fighting enemies with melee, ranged, and magic weapons while managing stamina. Defeated enemies can be absorbed for experience or scavenged for loot. The skill tree changes after each death, while dying resets progress. The Vengeance Edition adds an endless mode with enemy waves and a leaderboard, boss-unlocked perks that persist between runs, and a higher difficulty where enemies can appear across fortresses. It also adds rooms containing a dice game and a goblet that provides rewards, along with new artifacts and equipment drops. Burning can destroy random equipment; poison prevents healing, and low health does not regenerate automatically.
