Good fit- Shoot ’em up fans who want overhead combat between scrolling stages
- Retro-action players who enjoy collecting weapons and upgrades across repeated runs
- Challenge seekers who want escalating bullet-focused difficulty and a special Heartless Rampage setting
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a single combat format may bounce off the repeated switch between overhead shooting and shoot ’em up sections.
- Players who need consistent enemy behavior may hit a wall when higher difficulties sharply increase bullet speed, damage, and volume.
- Players looking for a long campaign may find 7 stages too limited in scope.
- Players who prefer fully available upgrade sets in one run may dislike that some items require another playthrough.
Our take on ASTROLANCER
Players who manage the early weapon and upgrade choices may still hit a wall when difficulty raises bullet speed, damage, and volume rather than enemy health. The Heartless Rampage setting is the clearest bounce point for those who find dense projectile patterns overwhelming.
What is ASTROLANCER?
ASTROLANCER is a retro-styled action game that alternates between top-down shooting and shoot ’em up sections.
Players control LANCER TWO, a military weapon that can merge with a lance to become a small spacecraft. The campaign spans 7 stages with dynamic bosses, hidden rooms, Energy Cells, and upgrades that modify abilities between stages. Secondary weapons are freely selectable, while more than a dozen special ARMS can be acquired. Higher difficulty changes enemy bullet damage, speed, and volume rather than increasing enemy HP. Retro Mode uses old-school controls, while Modern Mode allows strafing with any weapon and increases enemy durability. Cheats can be toggled during play, and not every item is available in one run.
