Our take on Astral Throne
The defining structure is a pocket-sized strategy RPG campaign rebuilt each run through changing recruits, loot, overworld routes, and story outcomes.
What is Astral Throne?
Astral Throne combines retro-style, turn-based strategy with roguelike role-playing.
Each run follows a procedurally generated overworld containing combat encounters, mini bosses, shops, and duel arenas. Players recruit allies, assign classes, distribute stats and experience, and develop characters through level-ups, weapons, equipment, items, and skills. Combat uses weapon and magic triangles, with permadeath adding a lasting cost to defeat. Handcrafted battles are combined with changing enemy loadouts, recruit options, loot, and map layouts. Party composition can affect the story, which includes over 100 branches and 24 unique endings. Dozens of collectible memories alter team mechanics, while difficulty modifiers provide additional challenges across repeated runs.
