Our take on Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers
The esports framing suggests a competition-focused game, but the main experience is a relationship-driven visual novel. Tournament play is represented by a skippable strategy minigame, while character customization, romance, friendship, and story choices occupy the larger role.
What is Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers?
Play as an aspiring gamer pursuing esports success on the Fist of Discomfort 2 Pro Tour in an alternate future where arcades remain popular.
Join a team based at Good Clean Fun, a pizzeria, laundromat, and arcade, then build friendships and romances while supporting teammates, facing rivals, entering tournaments, and investigating an arcade conspiracy. The visual novel includes six new characters, returning series characters, customizable player and rival designs, and personality choices shaped through the Iris assistant. Choices can define the protagonist as Kindly, Steady, Quirky, Gutsy, or Flexibly. A strategy minigame controls story paths without ending the story and can be skipped. Decisions from the first Arcade Spirits can also be imported.
