Our take on Anomaly Mahjong
The defining structure is a Mahjong match that repeatedly sends the player back to East 1 when an abnormal play is missed or a puzzle condition fails, turning progress into a test of observation and precise tile decisions.
What is Anomaly Mahjong?
Anomaly Mahjong is a Japanese Mahjong game built around unusual events and puzzle-like rounds.
During anomaly rounds, players inspect revealed or discarded tiles and identify irregular plays, such as declaring Riichi while calling tiles or calling from the player directly opposite. Missing the event sends the game back to East 1. Other rounds impose conditions for progress, including winning or drawing, and require suitable calls and discards. Failing one of these conditions also returns the game to East 1. The objective is to progress beyond the final round and escape the continuing match. Japanese Mahjong knowledge is required, and a Strange Event Assist function is available for players who understand the basic rules.
