Our take on Happy Guy
Players looking for a long-form campaign may bounce off once the short Haro-centered story has played through its relationship scenes. Those expecting extensive strategic systems may hit the wall earlier, when the casual mahjong and match-3 loop becomes the main activity.
What is Happy Guy?
Happy Guy follows Haro, an IT helpdesk worker at a cosmetic hospital who leaves his job after a conflict with a nurse.
The story tracks changes in his life and his relationships with four women: Ren, a nurse; Rei, a maid; Akari, a waitress who dreams of opening a bakery; and Narumi, a wealthy fashion-store owner. Gameplay combines mahjong with match-3 mechanics in a casual format. Progress is accompanied by background scenes, character CGs, trading cards, chill background music, and Japanese voice acting. The central story asks which woman will become the most important person in Haro’s life.
