Is Anomaly Defenders worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Tower-defense players who want to manage defenses that enemies can destroy
- Strategy players who like tailoring technology choices at the start of a campaign
- Anomaly series fans interested in playing from the alien defenders' side
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want defenses to remain intact under enemy attacks may hit a wall when human troops start damaging and destroying towers.
- Players who prefer a slower pace may struggle with the need to react to attacks on the battlefield.
- Players looking for cooperative play or character customization may prefer a game centered on those systems.
Our take on Anomaly Defenders
The likely bounce point is the constant pressure on tower placement and upkeep: human troops can damage or destroy defenses, so players who want to build a setup and leave it alone may hit a wall once attacks begin. The three difficulty levels change the setting, not that core demand.
What is Anomaly Defenders?
Anomaly Defenders is a tower-defense game in which players protect an alien homeworld from attacking human forces.
Enemies can damage or destroy towers, so the battlefield requires ongoing responses. The campaign includes 24 levels set on orbital stations and undiscovered lands. Players use 8 upgradeable tower types and choose technologies from a tech tree that can be tailored at the start of each campaign. Special actions let players repair towers, make them go berserk, or sacrifice them in explosions that harm humans. Tower placement can also alter enemy movement paths. Three difficulty levels are available. The game is the final installment in the Anomaly series and reverses its earlier premise of humans fighting alien invaders.
