Our take on Alphaman
The defining structure is an eight-stage action platforming campaign in which defeating enemies adds new charged-shot abilities, including three-direction firing and an air dash.
What is Alphaman?
Alphaman is an action platformer set in a future where hackers called the Red Bombers have seized personal androids.
Alpha moves through stages by running, jumping, shooting, climbing, and dashing while fighting infected machines. Defeated enemies provide powers that change the charged secondary shot, including one that fires in three directions and another that enables an aerial dash. The campaign contains seven full stages followed by a final boss stage. An operator provides mission information during the campaign. Keyboard and controller inputs are supported through arrow keys or a D-pad, with no joystick support listed. Controls can be remapped in-game, including movement, jumping, shooting, weapon switching, climbing, and dashing.
How Alphaman plays
- 01Enemy power capture
- Defeated foes grant abilities that modify Alpha's charged secondary weapon.
- 02Eight-stage campaign
- The game includes seven main stages and a separate confrontation with the final boss.
- 03Remappable controls
- In-game settings allow the listed keyboard or D-pad commands to be reassigned.
- 04Aerial movement
- Alpha can dash while airborne and climb using the upward movement command.
Alphaman compared to similar games
Alphaman presents a fixed action-platformer campaign with shooting, climbing, dashing, and enemy-derived powers. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania, while Alphaman specifies seven full stages followed by a final boss stage. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER is a runner with shooting elements, rather than a platformer built around climbing and ability capture.
