When It Hits the Fan is a top-down arcade shooter for PC and arcade systems, built around four disasters occurring together: a zombie outbreak, a robot uprising, a demonic invasion, and an alien attack.
Players move through four zones—the City, Laboratory, Underground/Hell, and Alien Spaceship—with a local partner in two-player co-op. The arsenal contains nine weapons, including handguns, a shotgun, machine gun, grenade launcher, flamethrower, laser weapons, and a chainsaw. Power-ups include an invincibility cloak, force shield, and protective cross. Three difficulty settings alter enemy numbers, bullet speed, and enemy patterns. Hard Mode unlocks additional challenge, while Cheat Mode allows weapon selection for a full playthrough. The game also includes over 40 achievements.
