Our take on Alice Escaped!
Players who dislike performance-based challenges may hit a wall in the death-match areas: every enemy must be defeated, and earning skill-crystal fragments can depend on maintaining a high combo or taking no damage. Boss encounters also require breaking shields before follow-up attacks.
What is Alice Escaped!?
Alice Escaped!
is a 2D Metroidvania action game about Usada and Kotora, who enter a strange Wonderland while searching for Alice and a way home. Explore the world, meet familiar characters, find items, and make major story choices connected to multiple endings. In combat, switch between Usada’s hammer attacks and Kotora’s submachine gun and bombs to chain combos. Defeating enemies builds a gauge for support and ultimate attacks, while boss fights involve breaking a shield before attacking. Collect skill crystals to improve abilities, weapons, stats, or movement, and find heart crystals to raise maximum health. Some areas require defeating every enemy, with rewards tied to combo counts or avoiding damage. The game includes two playable characters and two difficulty options.
How Alice Escaped! plays
- 01Tag-team combat

- Boss shields must be depleted before players can follow up with a series of attacks.
- 04Skill development
- Skill crystals can be spent on weapons, character abilities, stats, and movement.
- 05Multiple endings

- 06Death-match areas
- These zones require defeating all enemies, with skill-crystal fragments available for high combos or taking no damage.
