The room-escape format centers the experience on puzzles and story clues, leaving little space for activities beyond that focus. Current support is limited to the HTC Vive, so the experience is also constrained by its hardware requirement.
What is Alcatraz: VR Escape Room?
This story-based puzzle game begins with the character waking confused and locked in a room.
Searching the room turns up notes from someone trying to help them escape. The notes reveal pieces of the character’s life and raise questions about why they are there and who is helping them. The story unfolds as the player goes deeper into the situation. The game takes inspiration from classic room-escape puzzles such as Crimson Room and has an intermediate difficulty. It currently supports the HTC Vive. Support for additional VR devices, keyboard and mouse controls, more languages, and multiplayer appears as planned future development, not current functionality.
