Our take on Air Defender
The dramatic framing centers on national stakes and split-second choices, but the playable role is an unseen commander working through radar, intelligence and aircraft orders. The core experience is operational monitoring and decision-making, not direct aerial combat.
What is Air Defender?
Air Defender is a top-down real-time strategy simulation about commanding a nation's air-defense network.
The player examines radar returns, interprets identification data, monitors flight plans and electronic-warfare intelligence, then orders interceptor aircraft to investigate, shadow or engage contacts. Aircraft require management of fuel, weapons and mission objectives while the commander assesses whether a contact is civilian or hostile. The game includes an Endless mode, where hostile forces probe defenses and launch coordinated attacks, and Training Missions for learning the command role. It focuses on strategic decisions inside an air-defense command center rather than direct aircraft piloting or dogfighting.
How Air Defender plays
- 01Radar Network Management
- Interpret radar returns and identification data while building a picture of activity in the airspace.
- 02Interceptor Operations
- Send fighter aircraft to investigate, follow or attack contacts, while tracking their fuel, weapons and assigned objectives.
- 03Airspace Intelligence
- Use flight-plan information and electronic-warfare reports when assessing potential threats.
- 04Adaptive Adversary
- Opposing forces test defenses, coordinate attacks and change their approach in response to decisions.
- 05Endless And Training Modes
- Choose open-ended defensive operations or missions focused on learning the command role.
