StrategyIs Abyss Kitchen worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want dungeon survival built around food collection and cooking
- Action players who prefer supporting an automatically fighting party
- Players interested in timing attacks around monster behavior
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking direct control of every party member during battles may hit a wall when encounters begin automatically.
- Players who dislike managing hunger and repeatedly gathering ingredients may bounce off the need to eat and cook throughout dungeon runs.
- Players looking for a purely combat-focused action game may find the food and camp systems take too much attention.
Our take on Abyss Kitchen
The likely bounce point arrives when dungeon survival requires more than fighting: hunger must be managed, ingredients collected, and camp meals chosen for their effects. Players who want constant direct combat control may also stop when the party begins handling encounters automatically.
What is Abyss Kitchen?
Play as Lop, a cook who accompanies a party of adventurers through unexplored dungeons.
The party automatically fights monsters, while the cook gathers ingredients and dodges attacks that stray into the rear position. Monster attack patterns create openings for timed strikes, and the party can use special moves to finish weakened foes. Plants, demon remains, and other collected materials become food ingredients. During camps, ingredients can be cooked into dishes with effects such as restoring HP or raising attack power. Players must judge the dungeon’s conditions, maintain their own food supply, and prepare meals that support continued exploration. The story begins in a starving village whose adventurers have failed to recover dungeon treasure because they cannot obtain food.
How Abyss Kitchen plays
- 01Automatic Party Battles
- Adventurers engage monsters on their own, leaving the cook to gather ingredients and avoid stray attacks.
- 02Timed Monster Attacks
- Watching for openings before major enemy moves allows the cook to land attacks that briefly disable monsters.
- 03Ingredient Cooking
- Materials collected in dungeons can be prepared at camp as dishes that restore HP or raise attack power.
