Our take on 焚魂之梦
The first wall comes early: the protagonist is so vulnerable that leaving the starting area can mean a quick death. Players must also account for agility and equipment weight, since loading up without considering those systems can leave the character too slow to act often.
What is 焚魂之梦?
After dying, the protagonist arrives in another world and becomes a shrem, a weak creature in a monster-filled underground city.
Eating enemies can grant some of their attributes and may provide a skill, allowing different character builds. Combat uses an ATB system with actions determined by agility; equipment weight also affects that stat. The main story is limited, while the game includes areas to explore, hidden content, and puzzles. The opening is especially dangerous: the protagonist can be killed quickly outside the starting area, so attributes and equipment choices matter. Three difficulty settings can be changed at any time. The game currently has two chapters, with about six planned, though future development is uncertain.
