Is Waste Walkers worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Post-apocalyptic RPG fans who want survival meters and scavenging
- Open-world explorers who want many interiors and an underground metro area
- Players who prefer character development alongside colony management and randomized encounters
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long central story may stop at the short main quest
- Players who want predictable encounters may bounce off the randomized events, loot, weather, and gameplay
- Players looking for a focused combat game may find the survival, crafting, exploration, and colony systems too broad
Our take on Waste Walkers
The likely bounce point is the survival loop: hunger and thirst remain active while players scavenge, craft, hunt, and fight. Players expecting a straightforward open-world RPG may hit friction when those systems combine with randomized events, loot, weather, and a player-managed colony.
What is Waste Walkers?
Waste Walkers is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game set after the collapse of governments, infrastructure, and society.
Players create and develop a character through equipment and skill choices, then explore a large city, more than 120 interiors, and an underground metro area. Survival systems include hunger, thirst, foraging, hunting, crafting, and scavenging. Combat includes mutants, bandits, wild animals, and other enemies, while randomized loot, events, weather, music, and semi-randomized gameplay vary encounters.
The game also includes a player-managed colony, an arena minigame, more than 55 side quests, a short main quest, lore, and a day-and-night cycle. Gamepad support is available after being enabled. The Prepper’s Edition includes the game and DLC with backgrounds, an art book, a four-part guide, the soundtrack, and a digital novella.
