Our take on Zork: Grand Inquisitor
This installment shifts its adventure away from text-based exploration by using a first-person view with 360-degree rotation, pre-rendered settings, and live-action performances. The artifact quest is accompanied by humor and pop-culture references rather than a consistently serious fantasy tone.
What is Zork: Grand Inquisitor?
Magic has been outlawed in the Underground Empire, and Grand Inquisitor Mir Yannick has shut the realm off.
To bring magic back, the player must locate the Coconut of Quendor, the Cube of Foundation, and the Skull of Yoruk. Dungeon Master Dalboz accompanies the search through places including Hades, Flood Control Dam #3, and the Dungeon Master's Lair. This adventure uses a first-person perspective, 360-degree camera movement, and pre-rendered scenery, with live-action footage and voice performances. Humor and pop-culture allusions appear throughout, and the game features more than 30 distinct 360-degree settings. The quest seeks the three objects and aims to overthrow the Inquisition.
