Our take on ZIQ
The store presentation gives substantial attention to scoring, leaderboards, and the hostile narrator. The central experience is repeated attempts through hazardous generated courses, with frequent death and increasing difficulty shaping the play cycle.
What is ZIQ?
ZIQ is an arcade runner where changing polarity lets the character evade hazards and sometimes eliminate them.
Each attempt combines running, jumping, dodging, drawing in pickups, sustaining chains, and carefully timed collections to raise the score. Seven themed stages are generated procedurally, containing over 25 obstacle types and hundreds of potential arrangements. Challenges include acid under collapsing platforms, barriers that emerge suddenly, and hazards that demand quick polarity swaps. Completing seven charge-core patterns in succession activates Overcharged mode, making polarity-based traps destructible for bonus points. Frequent deaths are part of the structure, and performance raises the difficulty. Scores appear on a worldwide leaderboard, while Swarm provides voiced taunts during the experiments.
How ZIQ plays
- 01Polarity Switching
- Changing ZIQ's polarity allows safe passage through certain hazards and can destroy some obstacles.
- 02Generated Stages

- 03Charge Sequences
- Collecting charge cores in sequence awards extra points and supports longer chains.
- 04Overcharged State
- Chaining seven sequences enables ZIQ to destroy polarity traps for additional points.
- 05Global Leaderboard
- Run scores can be compared on a global leaderboard.
- 06Voiced Heckling
- Swarm insults ZIQ during the experiments, with harsher treatment as player performance rises.
