Our take on YumeCore
YumeCore pairs side-scrolling brawling with investigation and exploration instead of relying on combat alone. Its hospital setting and dream premise also depart from the familiar expectation of a beat-'em-up centered on a straightforward physical-world confrontation.
What is YumeCore?
YumeCore combines side-scrolling beat-'em-up combat with adventure-style investigation.
Soboko, a hospitalized girl, has a lucid dream and becomes a temporary nurse, confronting rampaging patients by force. Players clear dream-world stages with punches, throws, and a variety of items. In the real-world hospital, exploration turns up items that Soboko can use in dream battles. The enemies include girls who spit water, hop about, or have unusually long bodies. End-stage bosses provide further fights. The story follows Soboko's efforts to escape the hospital, as the dream's events prove less straightforward than they first seem.
