Our take on Yaga
The bounce point arrives in the layered build systems: forging, talismans, magic items, perks, blessings, and curses all affect play. Players looking for a direct action game may stop when equipment choices begin shaping combat and encounter solutions.
What is Yaga?
Yaga is an action RPG about Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith tasked with difficult missions by the tzar while Baba Yaga watches his fate.
Combat uses hammers and tools that Ivan forges, including weapons with effects such as teleporting lightning and hookshot attacks. Talismans, magic items, blessings, perks, curses, and enhancements alter his abilities and play style. Choices affect Ivan’s story, reputation, and available upgrades. Each playthrough uses a procedural map and offers different ways to resolve encounters, with multiple endings, characters, and hidden secrets. The game includes fast travel, weapon repairs, crafting upgrades, Story Mode, Hardcore Mode, and a village quest added in version 1. 2.

- Version 1.2 adds favorites for hammers, tools, and magic items, while weapons can also be repaired and merchants accept returned items.
Yaga compared to similar games
Yaga combines action-RPG combat with blacksmithing, procedural maps, branching reputation and story choices, and multiple endings. Ghost of a Tale focuses on exploration, stealth, disguises, and conversations in an animal-populated medieval world, while Vagante presents an adventure through a dark fantasy world of monsters, demons, and crooks.
