Our take on Wordeous
The sticking point comes before the first round: every player needs a Twitch account, and the host must set up a channel chat for guesses. A moderator also needs a separate copy, so groups expecting only the host to buy the game may need to change who runs the match.
What is Wordeous?
Wordeous is a multiplayer card game where one player explains a target word without saying its banned words.
Friends or an audience guess by posting in a Twitch channel’s chat, and the game collects their answers. The game uses Twitch chat and requires a Twitch account, but the person running a match does not need to be a streamer. Players can host or moderate a match themselves, or play with a moderator; moderators need their own copy, while guessers do not.
A scoreboard tracks successful viewers from the latest game or across games, and points reflect both the explainer’s and viewers’ performance. The base game includes 500 words in the Basics category; the vendor also lists packs with additional word sets.
How Wordeous plays
- 01Twitch chat guesses
- Friends and viewers submit answers in the host channel’s chat, which the game collects during a match.
- 02Match scoreboards
- Viewers can be compared by results from the latest match or from all games.
- 03Word packs
- The base game has 500 Basics words, with separately listed packs adding categories such as Games and Movies.
- 04Moderator option
- A moderator can run a match alongside the host, but must own a copy of the game.
