Our take on Word Play
The run-based structure adds variety through perks and changing tile rules, but it also makes failure costly: running out of Plays sends the run back to the beginning rather than preserving progress.
What is Word Play?
Word Play is a spelling game built around forming words with letter tiles.
Words earn points according to letter value and length, while clearing rounds grants a choice from more than 150 perks. Modifiers alter rules, upgrades change tiles, gifts add options such as wildcards and mirror tiles, and special tile forms can increase scoring. The game uses a roguelike structure: players must reach the end without running out of Plays or restart from the beginning. Modes include Easy, Normal, Hard, Legendary, Marathon, and Casual. Mouse, keyboard, and controller input are supported, along with dyslexic fonts, high contrast, spelling suggestions, custom dictionaries, Steam Cloud, and more than 20 Steam achievements.
