Our take on Within the blade
The store presentation foregrounds fast combat, gore, bosses, and a large crafting count, while the core structure is a level-by-level stealth platformer with returns to a village between missions. That progression loop and the need to switch tactics for different enemies are central to the experience.
What is Within the blade?
Within the Blade is a stealth platforming game set in a fictionalized 1560 Japan during a large civil war.
Players control a shinobi from the Black Lotus clan and weaken a demon-backed warlord through sabotage and assassination. Levels combine platforming, combat, hiding, and attacks from concealment. Defeating enemies and completing stages grants experience, which can unlock stronger ninjutsu and other abilities. Ingredients gathered during missions can be used to make shurikens, poisons, elixirs, grenades, mines, and weapons including the Ninjato and Kusarigama. After each stage, the character returns to a village to buy equipment, items, and advanced ninjutsu. The game includes ten bosses, varied enemy types, dismemberment and gore, and more than 200 crafting recipes.
