Our take on VRZ: Torment
The survival-and-escape structure keeps attention on the island’s immediate threats, but leaves less room for a broader sense of exploration beyond uncovering its mysteries and finding a way out.
What is VRZ: Torment?
Stranded on Purgatory Island, a prison for the undead and dying, players investigate mysteries while trying to survive and escape.
The island is controlled by the Far Watchers, who have infected the player with Animus, a machine that keeps them alive. Its cameras monitor movement, while the story leaves the purpose of the island and the player’s second life to be uncovered. Combat uses firearms and melee weapons, including bows, axes, bats, pistols, rifles, shotguns, and grenades, against groups of zombies. Multiple options are available for completing the game. Bonus mini-games include a shooting range, duck hunting, and an arcade. The game supports Virtuix Omni, Cyberith, Hardlight WIP, and Oculus Touch.
