Our take on VR Rome
Its focus on walking through a historical reconstruction leaves little room for conventional game systems such as combat, quests, or character progression. The experience prioritizes site coverage, building information, photographs, and scale models over interactive challenges or story-driven pacing.
What is VR Rome?
Explore a reconstructed version of Rome as it appeared in 320 AD across a continuous 2 km by 2 km VR area.
Walk between landmarks including the Colosseum, Pantheon, Roman Forum, Temple of Claudius, and Theatre of Pompey, including structures no longer visible in modern Rome. Important buildings provide names, construction dates, ground-level information panels, and photographs of surviving ruins. A museum gallery presents 1:500 building models on tables, allowing viewing from different angles. The covered urban area extends from the Colosseum in the southeast to the Stadium of Domitian, located at modern Piazza Navona, in the northwest. Listed examples include the Arch of Constantine, Arch of Titus, Temple of Mars Ultor, and Basilica of Maxentius.
