Our take on Vortex
The first hard stop comes before a match: play is local only, and at least two Xbox 360 controllers are required. Players who expect to attack opponents directly may also need to adjust to the central loop: firing at vortices, collecting the pickups that appear, then sending those pickups back.
What is Vortex?
Vortex is a retro-styled top-down shooter for local multiplayer.
Players steer spaceships with physics-driven movement and shoot at opponents’ vortices to make pickups appear. They collect those pickups and fire them back at other players’ vortices, indirectly killing each other. The game supports 2–4 players in split-screen and requires at least two Xbox 360 controllers. It includes 11 pickup types that players can customize, including mines, a gunship that shoots at nearby players, a shield, and a nuke. The graphics use a neon vector style. Vortex is for local multiplayer only.
