Our take on VINE
The defining detail is Rick's infinitely extending tongue, which functions as a rope for attaching to objects, swinging through spaces, and solving environmental puzzles.
What is VINE?
VINE follows Rick, a yellow frog crossing a ruined research facility on a journey toward an insect-filled Paradise.
Its central mechanic gives Rick an endlessly伸able tongue that can connect to boxes, vines, and other objects for swinging, pulling, and movement. Progress depends on reading gravity, acceleration, and centrifugal force while navigating dangerous paths and machinery. The game includes more than 200 puzzles across a roughly 20-hour adventure. Exploration also reveals other Poros and hidden journals that describe events surrounding the abandoned Cosmos facility and the world after humanity left Earth. Insects provide a reason to explore, while the story introduces characters including Roco, Pio, Olim, Fleia, and Laon.
How VINE plays
- 01Tongue Rope Movement
- Rick can attach his tongue to objects such as boxes and vines to swing, pull, and traverse the environment.
- 02Physics-Based Puzzles
- Solutions rely on understanding gravity, acceleration, and centrifugal force during movement and object manipulation.
- 03Cosmos Exploration
- The journey passes through a deteriorated research building filled with hazardous devices and difficult routes.
- 04Hidden Journals
- Journals placed throughout Cosmos reveal events from the facility's past.
VINE compared to similar games
VINE centers on an extendable tongue used for rope-like movement, object interaction, and more than 200 environmental puzzles. Jusant also combines climbing with puzzles, but its description focuses on choosing routes, managing a stamina meter, and using climbing tools while ascending a tower.
