StrategyIs Village & Monsters worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Card-game players who want to manage a settlement and a virus population together
- Strategy players who enjoy balancing food, population, DNA, and virus numbers
- Players who want card combinations, building production, monster attacks, and negative events in one game
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a broad settlement simulator may find the population goal and card-driven structure narrow in scope.
- Those looking for uninterrupted development may dislike the periodic monster attacks and events that reduce food or population.
- Players who prefer games centered on a single population may not want to balance humans and viruses at the same time.
Our take on Village & Monsters
The population target is presented as the main goal, but reaching 100 people is tied to a plot premise in which humans can fight monsters without viral support. The game still requires the virus to survive, making the objective less straightforward than settlement growth alone.
What is Village & Monsters?
Village & Monsters is a card game about developing a human settlement alongside viruses.
Monsters periodically attack the settlement, while the virus population keeps them in check. The objective is to reach 100 people without allowing the virus to die. Players combine cards from categories including materials, technologies, weapons, tools, social cards, and events. Human management involves food and population, while virus management uses DNA and virus numbers. Buildings produce food or materials and appear on the game map with detailed information.
Creatures can adapt to the virus, reducing DNA production as the virus population grows. Infecting people increases DNA and provides access to other cards, but adds disease effects to the human side. Events harm population or food, while weapons and tools reduce those effects. Permanent cards provide lasting bonuses, with their deck limited to four cards.

- 04Infection effects

- 05Four-card limit
- The permanent-card deck allows only four cards.
