Our take on Veil of Dust: A Homesteading Game
Farm RPGs often center on routine cultivation and gradual expansion; this one pairs homestead tasks with a longer narrative about bereavement, monster attacks, and family relationships. Combat and mystery sit alongside farming rather than replacing the homesteading structure.
What is Veil of Dust: A Homesteading Game?
Veil of Dust is a story-driven survival and farm RPG set in 1860s Oregon.
Shane and Áine Callahan try to rebuild their lives after a major loss while investigating attacks by magical creatures. Farm, forage, and hunt in the sparse desert, then cook, craft tools, and build homestead upgrades. The siblings can also defend their home from monsters, develop romantic and other relationships, and decorate their house with chosen colors and stock animals. The story follows seven emotional arcs involving themes such as love, grief, and purpose, alongside magic, intrigue, and small-town politics. Casual and challenge settings are available, as are dialogue text options, mini-game speed settings, key rebinding, and quick dialogue scrolling.
