Our take on Vagnerun
The bounce point arrives when advancement depends on finishing in the top three across a planet’s three tracks. Players who also struggle with combat hazards, ship damage, and upgrade choices may hit another wall before reaching later planets.
What is Vagnerun?
Vagnerun is an isometric top-down racing game combining vehicle combat, obstacles, and ship upgrades.
Races take place across 24 planets, each containing three tracks with hazards, bonuses, and secrets. Championship mode requires a top-three finish across each planet’s tracks to advance, while Elimination mode uses reverse tracks and removes three competitors per race until one pilot continues. Up to 10 ships can compete, with jumping, shooting, traps, towers, and track boosters affecting the race. Between events, players can improve engines, accelerators, nitro, armor, weapons, and special items, as well as repair the ship. The game includes computer-controlled opponents and two-player split-screen play using one keyboard and one controller.
How Vagnerun plays
- 01Planetary Championship
- Progression covers 24 planets with three tracks per planet, requiring top-three results to open the next stage.
- 02Elimination Events
- Reverse-track races remove three competitors at a time, leaving one pilot to advance after each three-race set.
- 03Ship Upgrades
- Engine, accelerator, nitro, armor, weapons, and special items can be selected to shape speed, protection, and combat ability.
- 04Combat Racing
- Races combine jumping with attacks, environmental hazards, destructible towers, and boosters placed along the courses.
- 05Local Split-Screen
- Two players can compete locally with one keyboard and one controller.
- 06Computer Opponents
- Races include opponents controlled by the game.
Vagnerun compared to similar games
Gas Guzzlers Extreme also combines armed combat with racing, vehicles, weapons, upgrades, bonuses, and varied environments. Vagnerun instead uses an isometric ship-racing format across planetary tracks, with championship and elimination progression plus two-player split-screen play. The listed drone-racing alternatives focus on FPV flight simulation rather than combat racing.
