Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking deep combat systems may hit a wall because the described activities center on exploration, puzzles, quests, and mini-games.
- Players who want a tightly sequenced story may lose momentum in an open world with many activities and places to explore.
- Players seeking survival crafting or business management will not find those systems at the center of play.
Our take on Unicorn Tails
Players seeking a focused, tightly sequenced adventure may bounce when the open island gives way to a spread of quests, puzzles, mini-games, and storybooks. Those expecting sustained combat may also hit a wall: the described activities emphasize exploration and varied challenges rather than a combat-centered structure.
What is Unicorn Tails?
Unicorn Tails is an open-world adventure set on Unicorn Island, where players create a unicorn and explore a fantasy world.
The island was once a destination for unicorns before the mainland disappeared, leaving it surrounded by ocean. Activities include talking with residents, completing quests, finding items, solving puzzles, navigating mazes and dungeons, and playing obstacle courses, target practice, timed challenges, and horde mode. Magic abilities include changing the weather, summoning objects, and jumping as high as trees. Players can also unlock a transformation into a flying Pegasus. Books provide narrated stories, with narration optional. A day-and-night cycle and changing weather affect gameplay and opportunities to interact. New content is included in the game's price, with no microtransactions or in-game currency.
