The game trades a narrowly focused action loop for a mixture of exploration, combat, puzzles, relationships, and side activities. That variety gives the island adventure several activity types, but leaves less room for a dedicated stealth, survival-crafting, or tower-defense structure.
What is Under The Island?
Under The Island is a 2D action-adventure starring Nia, a newcomer to Seashell Island.
With local girl Avocado, she investigates the island’s predicted destruction while exploring six interconnected regions, including frozen caverns, sentient greenhouses, and sawmills. Each region contains dangers, upgrades, and treasures. Nia battles unusual creatures, such as tunnelling wolves and vomiting eggplants, using artefacts, loot, and newly discovered abilities. Exploration also involves uncovering hidden areas and ancient mysteries. Outside combat, Nia can assist island residents, reunite lost cats, enter a cook-off, and befriend animals by giving them treats. The game presents its top-down island adventure through vibrant pixel art and includes characters with individual stories and roles in the unfolding investigation.
