SimulationIs TRUE SKATE™ worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Skateboarding fans who want to practice tricks through physics rather than preset button commands
- Players who enjoy demanding simulations built around timing and precision
- Skaters interested in experimenting with grinds, gaps, transitions, spins, and technical lines
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking immediate, low-difficulty trick execution may find the physics-based controls demanding
- Those wanting a broad progression structure may find the focus on practice and mastering individual tricks narrow
- Players looking for racing, driving, or drone-flight simulation will find the subject matter unsuitable
Our take on TRUE SKATE™
The physics-driven control gives up immediate accessibility: every trick requires manual timing, force, angle, and correction. That commitment supports detailed board handling, but makes the early learning process demanding and places less emphasis on quick, preset trick execution.
What is TRUE SKATE™?
TRUE SKATE™ is a skateboarding simulator built around a physics system that determines how the board responds to swipes, position, direction, and strength.
Different contact points produce different reactions, while timing, precision, angle, and late adjustments affect each trick. Players control pushing, popping, flipping, grinding, transitions, gaps, spins, and landings rather than selecting completed tricks through button commands. Tutorials at MACBA cover core techniques, with The Valley, The Warehouse, and Mondo Ramp offering areas for grinds, transitions, gaps, speed, and air. Skill develops through practice and learning the physics. Procedural animation combines motion-capture material with real-time responses, allowing varied skateboarder movements.
How TRUE SKATE™ plays
- 01Physics-Based Board Control
- Swipe location, direction, force, timing, angle, and corrections determine how the skateboard responds.
- 02Trick Practice Areas
- MACBA introduces fundamentals, while The Valley, The Warehouse, and Mondo Ramp focus on different forms of skating.
- 03Real-Time Animation
- Procedural animation blends motion-capture movements to create responses for different tricks.
