We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Railway hobbyists who want to operate commuter, regional, and freight services
- Simulation players who want both driving and conductor responsibilities
- Players interested in rail routes around London, Frankfurt, or Los Angeles
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a short, single-route experience may find the multiple routes and train roles broader than needed
- Players who want only train driving may not want the added ticket, door, and passenger-safety duties in Conductor Mode
- Players seeking a complete collection in one purchase may need an edition with additional trains or compatible routes
Our take on Train Sim World® 5
The bounce point arrives when the collection structure becomes part of the hobby: players wanting every route or train must compare editions and add-ons. Those interested only in driving may also stop at the optional Conductor Mode duties, which add ticket and door management.
What is Train Sim World® 5?
Train Sim World 5 is a railway simulation covering three routes in London, Frankfurt, and Los Angeles.
Services include commuter, regional, passenger, and freight operations using trains such as the Northwestern Class 350, DB BR 411 ICE-T, DB Vectron, F125, and MP36. Conductor Mode adds guard duties, including ticket checks, door operation, and passenger-safety tasks. Live Map provides a real-time overhead view of routes, stations, and upcoming trains. Route Hopping allows fast travel to stations and, where geography-shared routes are available, movement between routes on foot. Creators Club and Photo Mode provide customization and photography tools. The Standard Edition contains the three new routes, while Deluxe and Special Editions add trains or compatible routes.
