Our take on Trading Towns
The bounce point arrives when population needs and item production begin competing for attention. Players must choose between constructing public buildings and supplying goods, while also deciding which three-item combinations and adventurer tasks support the town’s economy.
What is Trading Towns?
Trading Towns is an economic management game about making a settlement wealthy through resource use, trade, production, and population management.
Players collect resources, sell or refine them for profit, construct buildings, and meet residents’ needs through public facilities or items. Up to three items can be combined in buildings to create new goods, some of which serve residents or adventurers. Hired adventurers can fight monsters, gather resources, or search for treasures. They develop over time, becoming stronger and more efficient, while their individual strengths, weaknesses, and abilities affect their use. The game presents its town-building and management systems as simple and relaxing, with a structure intended for play alongside another activity.

Bear and Breakfast also centers on a laid-back management setting, but it focuses on running a forest bed-and-breakfast as a bear. Trading Towns instead combines town construction, population needs, resource refinement, item combinations, and adventurer expeditions. Mr. Prepper centers on survival crafting, an underground shelter, and preparation for nuclear war rather than town wealth and resident services.
